First the carbon fiber becomes glossy but the thickness is still very thin. When installed on the car it makes the b pillars look flush to the body as if the b pillar was made from CarbonFiber from the factory. The second reason we do not use polyurethane is the b pillar always sees the sun, dirt, rain etc. Clear polyurethane, doesn't matter how high quality it is fades in these conditions. Even your own clear coat on your car fades over time. The Polyurethane clear coat once exposed to the sun has a lifetime of one year before it starts losing color. Especially if you purchase the cheaper B Pillars from overseas you can only imagine how fast they will turn yellow or crack.
